Description
You are a young resident of Goldenrod City, finally about to begin your lifelong dream of becoming a Pokémon Trainer on your tenth birthday. A new researcher, Professor G. Oak, has established a laboratory in the distant Lake Zigger, and your mother has agreed to let you begin your journey with one of three Fire-type Pokémon.
After boarding a boat and arriving at Lake Zigger, everything immediately goes wrong. You arrive late, get mistaken for a lost passenger, and are delayed further by a package delivery at the local Pokémon Mart. With no clear directions to the lab, you struggle to even find your way forward.
When you finally reach the laboratory, you descend into the basement—only to discover that another aspiring Trainer has already arrived early and taken one of the starters. Charmander is gone, and in the confusion, this mysterious rival also takes Cyndaquil. With Torchic as the only remaining choice, you are left with no option but to claim it. Immediately afterward, the rival challenges you to a battle before you leave town.
As you depart, a sudden flash of light occurs, and your Torchic is replaced by an unknown Pokémon. With Professor Oak rushing past you in confusion, you are forced to continue your journey regardless of what has happened.
Outside Lake Zigger, you encounter a member of a mysterious organization you have never heard of before. He appears to be searching for the strange Pokémon you now carry, but after being defeated, he retreats without explanation. Despite calling themselves an “evil team,” their behavior is unusual and unpredictable.
As your journey through the Rinto Region begins, your path toward the Pokémon League is repeatedly disrupted by strange events. Secret Bases, unexpected plot twists, random encounters with familiar faces, and even moments where reality itself feels unstable all become part of your adventure.
Along the way, you find yourself drawn into a much larger crisis affecting both the Pokémon world and reality itself, forcing you to confront bizarre mysteries—including the significance of the number 42.
