Battles
- Gen V battles everywhere: Wild Pokemon, trainers, double and tag battles, legendaries, the catching tutorial, the Safari Zone, Pal Park and the Battle Frontier, all on BW2's battle engine.
- BW2's battle backgrounds: Routes use BW2's open-field look, with backgrounds that change depending on where you're standing: lawn, dirt path, tall grass, mountain, caves, snowfields and more.
- Custom trainer sprites: Ace Trainer, Fisherman, Worker, Lass, Waitress, Black Belt, Hiker, Psychic, Rich Boy, Gentleman and Youngster are BW2's sprites and animations recolored or retextured.
Out in Sinnoh
- Following Pokemon: Your lead follows you around, with HGSS's whole system ported over.
- BW2's Phenomena: Rustling grass, dust clouds, shadows and rippling water, with rarer Pokemon and items in them.
- BW2's Pokedex: After your first badge you get the Habitat List: every area in Sinnoh and what lives there. Get a stamp for seeing everything in an area, another for catching it all, and a little fanfare for finishing it completely.
- More of Gen V: BW2's transitions into battle, its evolution and egg-hatching scenes.
- Small stuff: A save select screen that shows your party, decaptalized names like Bidoof instead of BIDOOF.
