Description

At the centre of it all, a legendary weapon known as The Golden Leek, and a threat unlike anything they've ever faced.

Will they find their way back to each other before the world becomes fractured?

Hoo boy, where do I even begin...?

A Farfetch'd Story started as a simple idea for a jam game back in 2022. I was really happy with how that game turned out, so I decided to make a sequel to answer one simple question: what happened to Farrow?

At first, the sequel was planned to be about 8 hours long, with 5 chapters and a 2023 release date. But as development went on, the ideas kept coming, and the project grew larger and larger.

Over the years, I took several breaks from development to work on other projects, including Pivot, BIKE RAMPAGE, ULTRALITE, Pumpkaboo's Party and The Slowpoke Shack. Each game taught me something new, and I brought those lessons back to this game.

DELTARUNE is my biggest inspiration (I can't believe Toby Fox is releasing Chapter 5 a few days after my game smh). You can see its influence in some of the sillier character moments, such as the Plusle and Minun arc, Cobalt's arc, and especially the secret bosses.

The story was incredibly difficult to figure out. I revised it countless times and was often stuck on where to take things next. A big goal I wanted to achieve with this game is to give every character some sort of story arc. I'm really happy with many of the arcs, notably Farrow, Karl, Shelby and Golo.

I think the chapter structure worked really well. Chapter 5 is probably my favorite because it tells a more self-contained story focused on a single character. I also really like Chapter 4 because of how character-focused it is. Overall, I'm excited about the story. I think the ending is awesome.

Huge thanks to Voltseon for all the help with custom sprites, including the amazing title screen. He made me worry a lot less about art assets and helped me fully realize my vision.

Throughout the long four years of development, I often wondered whether all this time spent on this silly Pokémon fangame about ducks was really worth it. I think it was.
