Description
Emerald But Bad is a difficulty enhancement projec that's main gimmick involves me, the creator, redrawing every Pokémon sprite using the help of HexManiacAdvance and MS Paint. Changing it to be much simpler, whether in relation to their design, the parts of a Pokémon can be based on, or making funny references to things I've seen on the internet. The off-the-wall nature of the game gives it an unserious, yet silly vibe.
The design of this game difficulty wise was inspired by project like Vintage White, Rigorous Red, and Sterling Silver, and it's no different when it comes to implementing new type changes, stat buffs, ability changes, and move set overhauling to account for the increase in trainer difficulty while also making certain Pokémon new and fresh. The game aims to be around the same difficulty as the rom hacks mentioned, while trying to keep it fair through the options the player gets during the game. Despite me designing it to be nuzlocked, there's a lot of fun that can be had playing it casually too!
